Ode to Aspen dogs

Dear Editor:

In Aspen, dogs are man's best friend

On trails, in parks, through the West End.

The rare and handsome breeds are stunning.

They sit, they fetch, they join you running.

The Fourth parade saw dog tails wag.

(Some pets were dyed to match the flag!)

Now quaint new breeds have reached our sector

To tempt the most refined collector:

Artistic notables lent class

By painting pups of fiberglass

For auctioning on August one.

They'll stand by you through rain and sun.

These canines never need a vet.

They make the perfect "trophy pet."

All over town, they pose on view,

Dressed for the slopes or blazing blue.

Oh, "Dog Eat Dog," all long to own you.

(Perhaps some scientist could clone you).

Film Festival receives the boodle -

A worthy cause to buy a poodle!
