Seniors graduate this weekend



This weekend will be full of relieved high school seniors and their proud parents - more than 400 students will graduate today and tomorrow in the Roaring Fork Valley.

Aspen High School will graduate 93 seniors at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Benedict Music Tent in Aspen's West End. Accomplished mountaineer Neal Beidleman will give the graduates' commencement address.

Eighty-eight students will graduate from Basalt High School at 10 a.m. Saturday in the school's gymnasium. The school's former longtime teacher Werner Anderson is set to speak at the ceremony.

Bridges High School in Glenwood Springs is graduating 21 students, including two juniors who are graduating early, at 2 p.m. this afternoon. The graduation ceremony is going to be held on the deck of Sunlight Mountain Resort, and the graduation speakers are teacher George Austin-Martin and BYU-Idaho professor Art Ericson.

At 1 p.m. Saturday, Roaring Fork High School in Carbondale will graduate 57 seniors in the school's gym. The commencement speaker is retired longtime RFHS teacher Bonnie Cretti.

Glenwood Springs High School graduation will take place at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Stubler Memorial Field at the school. The 150 seniors who are graduating will hear commencement addresses from retired longtime GSHS teachers Mike Wells, Bob Brooks, Janie Crisp and Jeannie Miller.
